The Ultimate Wharton State Forest Airbnb for a Modern New Jersey Getaway

A trip to a state forest or park is always a wonderful way to spend a few days in nature. When vacationing in New Jersey, you can’t get any better than Wharton State Forest in the southern region of the state. The forest is filled with tons of recreational activities such as hiking, mountain biking, swimming, and boating, and the land holds years of fascinating history. While there are many wonderful places to camp throughout the park, I always prefer more modern accommodations over rustic sites. Lucky for me, I recently came across a secluded yet modern Egg Harbor City Airbnb called the Lokal Chalet, and it is the perfect launching point for a trip to Wharton State Forest.

If you want to relax and unplug in nature without roughing it, this unique rental is the place to go. The stylish Scandinavian-style chalet is located in the rural New Jersey Pine Barrens and is surrounded by lush forests and scenic views. The four-bedroom, two-bathroom home boasts floor-to-ceiling windows, where you can enjoy the sights of nature from several rooms throughout the home.  

While the views from inside are pretty incredible, my favorite feature of this special vacation rental is the outside hot tub, which can be found on the home's front porch. It is the perfect place to relax and rejuvenate after a long day exploring the state forest. Other outdoor amenities include a fire pit, lawn games, and a Big Green Egg grill. 

Guests who prefer to cook inside will definitely enjoy the home’s commercial-grade kitchen. It has all of the modern appliances, cookware, and space to prepare an outstanding meal. If you prefer to dine outside of the home, I suggest checking out the local Firehouse Bar & Grill, a unique restaurant housed in a historic firehouse.

While the secluded home does not include a television, it does have Wi-Fi and plenty of other built-in entertainment. Head over to the property’s shed, and you will find a dart board, a ping-pong table, a shuffleboard, and a basketball hoop. There are also several books and board games to enjoy.

The Lokal Chalet houses up to eight guests. There is one bedroom with a queen-sized bed, and two bedrooms with full-size beds. A loft bedroom (accessible by a ladder) has additional sleeping for two guests. The cabin is equipped with both heat and central air conditioning, so you will be sure to have a comfortable stay no matter when you visit.  

Egg Harbor City is about a 20-minute drive from Wharton State Forest. The forest is New Jersey’s largest state park, and it has plenty of recreational activities to keep everyone in your group entertained for days. For a fun day trip, I suggest visiting the town of Hammonton, also known as the ‘Blueberry Capital of the World."
