There's nothing like camping in New Hampshire. From river side to lake side to those nestled in the forest, there's always a new place to explore for your own little adventure. Sleeping in a tent is great, but we know there are people out there who would prefer not to have to sleep on the ground. So, for those intrepid explorers who annually pack up the camper or RV we recommend these top rated spots in the Granite State.
1. Pawtuckaway State Park, Nottingham
The location of this state park makes it popular, but it's got a lot more going for it than just geography. There are 192 campsites all with access to the lake. Plus there are plenty of hiking trails throughout for visitors to stay active. They even have cabins for rent, but you'll need to reserve those well in-advance.
2. Umbagog Lake Campground, Errol
If you love to kayak, this is the campground for you. Lake Umbagog is gorgeous and the water activities are endless. It boasts 27 sites for either tents or RVs and each offers electric and water hook-ups.
3. Hampton Beach State Park, Hampton
One of the most popular summertime destinations in the state offers some seriously great camping options. We love this one for its location on the beach, plus the ability to go enjoy all the restaurants, bars, shopping, and fun that comes with a beach vacation.
4. Lafayette Place Campground, Franconia
This beautiful spot located right inside Franconia State Park is a great option for those who want to remain active while they're camping. There are tons of trails and the AT even crosses through. The campground features 97 campsites and they can accommodate both tents and large RVs. We love that each site has its own fireplace! They're open all year, but facilities like showers are only available from May through October.
5. Bear Brook State Park, Allenstown
Conveniently located in southern New Hampshire, this beauty offer 101 campsites all around Beaver Pond. With tall trees, the forest setting is ideal. And there are over 40 miles of hiking trails to explore. Looking for comforts of home? They've got showers, laundry facilities, a store, and a dumping station for your RV.
6. White Lake State Park, Tamworth
Those who love to swim will want to make this place a top priority! It's one of the only state park campgrounds with access to a lake beach. There are 203 campsites here and the location on the lake provides each with incredible views.
7. Sugarloaf Campgrounds, Twin Mountain
You'll find this camping experience on the Zealand River in the White Mountain Forest. With no showers and just hand-pumped water things here are more rustic than some other campgrounds on this list, but those looking for peace and quiet will love that there's so much room for each site. And, there's plenty of hiking.
