The Unexpected Montana Treehouse You’ll Remember Forever

Trade the ordinary for the extraordinary at this boat-shaped treehouse near Columbia Falls. Here, forest serenity and creative architecture make every moment memorable.

When it comes to unique vacation rentals in Montana, there are dozens of options. Throughout my years as a travel writer, I’ve found beautiful yurts, renovated grain silos, farm stays, and uniquely designed cabins for delightful stays. But, there is one Airbnb in Columbia Falls that was completely unexpected and caught me off guard—a boat-shaped treehouse.

Why This Unique Airbnb in Montana Stands Out

It’s not every day you see a large and beautifully crafted boat perched in the trees, but that’s exactly what you’ll find at the Beverly Boat, a one-of-a-kind Montana treehouse escape. This is certainly not your average vacation rental. This unexpected Airbnb sits on 5 acres of a peaceful forest. Three treehouses are scattered across this property, but they are thoughtfully spaced to ensure privacy for every guest—you can easily escape into your own imagination here.

Inside the Stay: Features, Atmosphere, and Highlights

This is not just a small structure nestled in the woods in northern Montana. When you walk inside this boat-shaped treehouse, you’ll feel like you are walking into a luxury home. Walk up the floating steel staircase to the front door, and take a step inside your home away from home.

Inside, the living room features a cozy couch, where you can curl up with your favorite book or watch a movie on the mounted TV. There is a full kitchen complete with a small fridge, oven, and stove. I particularly love the many windows throughout the rental, providing ample natural light and making each room feel even larger.

After a day of exploring, relax on the king-size bed where you’ll find a comfy mattress and plush bedding. Pay attention to the small details throughout the bedroom, as well as other areas of the Airbnb, that remind you this is a boat—not your typical place to stay in Montana. But what may be most unexpected about this Airbnb in Columbia Falls is the full bathroom, complete with a full-size shower and sink.

You can also breathe in the fresh air, stargaze at night, or drink a hot cup of coffee as you wake up each morning on the small deck that's just outside of the bedroom. Slow down, unwind, and take advantage of these small moments during your time away from the hustle of daily life.

Who This Stay Is Perfect For

This treehouse in Montana can comfortably sleep up to four guests, but it’s the perfect size for a couple’s getaway or even a solo adventure. I recommend this vacation rental to outdoor lovers and those who wish to explore Columbia Falls, Whitefish, and Glacier National Park, as it’s in a prime location to set up base camp for countless adventures in this part of the state.

You will need to climb stairs to reach this Airbnb and areas inside the rental, so it may not be a good fit for those with mobility challenges. Pets are also not allowed. Children are welcome, and items such as games and toys are available.

What to Know Before You Go

Due to its location and unique design, this vacation rental books quickly, especially during the summer months. You will want to book your stay early to reserve the dates you desire. Also, there is a two-night minimum, and reservations should be made on the rental’s online Airbnb listing.

I have come across some truly unique places to stay in Montana throughout the years, but the Beverly Boat is one of my favorites. Not only is its location ideal after a day of chasing waterfalls, exploring the towns of Whitefish and Columbia Falls, or even hiking and exploring Glacier National Park, but its design makes your imagination come to life, and the numerous amenities ensure comfort during your entire stay. This boat-shaped treehouse may be one of the most unexpected Airbnbs in Montana, but it’s also one you don’t want to miss.
