Indulge in a relaxing getaway when you check into the Walnut Street Inn in Springfield. And, if you believe in the paranormal...
You might just become one of the lucky guests who comes face-to-face with a visitor from beyond. But, a little backstory first.
The enchanting inn began its story as the home of Charles McCann in 1894. Charles and his wife, Katherine, remained in their beloved three-story home until they passed away.
Then, the home changed hands over the years until it finally opened as the charming Walnut Inn in 1987. Soon afterward, the tales began.
Boasting three separate buildings, the Walnut Street Inn's most haunted spot is said to be the main house and, specifically, the Rosen Room.
In fact, numerous guests have claimed to have come face-to-face with a woman, dressed in Victorian garb, in that room.
Most times the woman tells the guests they are in her room before she disappears, although one guest claims the woman pulled the blanket off of her in the middle of the night to sit down next to her on the bed.
Then, when the guest moved, the woman simply vanished.
Still others tell of more strange occurrences in the inn, including doors that mysteriously close, footsteps when no one is there, and lights that turn on by themselves in empty rooms.
Walnut Street Inn is located at 900 E Walnut St., Springfield, MO 65806.
