Spend The Night In A Yurt At This Gorgeous Missouri State Park
Lake of the Ozarks State Park offers unique yurt accommodations with various amenities and access to multiple hiking trails.
How do you like to enjoy the outdoors? For some, experiencing all that Mother Nature has to offer involves roughing it inside a tent. Others may prefer the coziness that comes with renting a cabin. Or, if you're looking for a 5-star experience, you can even stay at a luxurious lakeside resort in the Ozarks.
Aside from those forms of accommodation, there's another one that often flies under the radar. I'm talking about yurts. They may have a funny name, but they can be a lot of fun to spend the night in.
When you visit Lake of the Ozarks State Park, you can reserve your very own yurt.
A yurt is basically a mix between a tent and a cabin. The circular structure is covered with fabric, but held together with a wooden frame.
Compared to a tent, staying in a yurt will feel like "glamping."
Each yurt comes with a log futon, log futon bunk bed, a dorm-size refrigerator, microwave, coffee table, lamp, air conditioner and heater. I don't know about you, but that sounds way fancier than any tent I've ever slept in.
The yurts are hidden among the trees, giving them a more peaceful and secluded feel.
After you unpack your belongings, explore the various hiking trails that are offered at Lake of the Ozarks State Park.
You'll never get bored with 12 different hiking trails to choose from. The distances range from .80 mile to 9.25 miles, so there's something for everyone and all levels of hiking capabilities.
To enjoy waterside views, hike the Shady Ridge Trail.
The 1-mile Shady Ridge Trail meanders along the lake and leads to the Grand Glaze Beach area.
Speaking of waterside views, don't forget to visit the beach.
On a warm summer day, the lake is the perfect place to spend some time.
For a beautiful weekend trip in the outdoors, post up in a yurt at Lake of the Ozarks State Park.
The rate for yurts Sunday - Thursday is $50 plus tax and $55 plus tax on Fridays and Saturdays. Lake of the Ozarks is located at 403 Hwy. 134 in Kaiser, Missouri. For information on how to make a reservation, click here.
