A small town in Pike County, Summit is home to just over 2,500 residents.
A picture-perfect escape, the remote campground encompasses 95 wooded acres on Topisaw Creek.
Each of the campground’s six primitive campsites offers easy access to the creek. Some sites are situated creek-side, while others are just a short stroll from the creek.
Topisaw Creek forms the property’s eastern border, so there are lots of sandy beaches and rock bars.
Campers can soak up the sun on the sandbars and comb the rock bars for rocks and fossils (petrified wood and arrowheads have been found in the past).
Spring-fed, Topisaw Creek is always refreshingly cool and crystal clear.
The creek’s slow-moving, pristine waters are perfect for swimming, tubing, and paddling. (Keep in mind: You’ll have to bring your own tube, canoe, or kayak.)
Some campsites can only be reached via a short hike. Don’t worry, though. There are “drive-in” campsites, i.e. sites can drive right up to.
