Enjoy Cool, Crisp Water At This Lesser-Known Campground In Mississippi

Bluff Creek Campground in Mississippi offers a hidden beach with a sandbar, deep water, and a rope swing, perfect for a family-friendly day trip or overnight stay.

In addition to the popular beaches on the Gulf Coast, there are quite a few secret swimming holes and hidden beaches in Mississippi. Some of the state’s lesser-known swim spots are pretty remote and difficult to locate – not all of them, though. Complete with a sandbar, Bluff Creek is one of the best hidden beaches in Mississippi. It’s also among the easiest to access since it is part of a campground and offers day-use passes.

Bluff Creek is the centerpiece of Bluff Creek Campground in Vancleave.

The family-friendly RV park has been under new management since 2021. Those who’ve visited in the past will notice some changes, mainly the addition of Sandbar Passes for non-campers.

The passes offer access to the campground’s namesake, Bluff Creek. Each pass is $5 and includes all-day access to the creek, which is surrounded by stretches of white sand.

The creek’s dark-hued water might look dirty, but it’s not. The color is caused by deteriorating leaves and vegetation that fall into the creek.

A great place to swim, the water gets pretty deep. There’s even a rope swing for thrill-seekers.

One of the creek’s biggest perks, though, is the setting. Since it’s part of a campground, you can easily turn your day of fun in the sun into an overnight adventure.

Not into camping? No problem! There’s a great Airbnb nearby.

Dubbed “Twisted Run Retreat,” the rental is situated right on Bluff Creek and offers lots of perks, including a floating dock with rope swing, outdoor seating, firepits, nature trails, and more.
