Stay at This Quaint Airbnb While Exploring Michigan’s Most Charming Small Town

This delightful little vacation cabin rental in Gaylord, Michigan, is the perfect home base for exploring the town.

Gaylord, Michigan, is a small town in Otsego County - the only town in Otsego County, actually. It has a population of just over 4,200 people as of the most recent census, and it's known to Midwesterners as the "Little Switzerland" of the region for all sorts of charming reasons.

Gaylord is an excellent place to run away to for the weekend (or longer), and while you're here, you'll need a place to stay - and I've found the perfect spot.

Welcome to the Fireside Tiny Cabin, an idyllic escape from the real world found in the woods near town. It's somehow both quaint and oddly roomy, featuring some beautiful amenities (a private hot tub, anyone?) and awesome woodsy views. It sleeps up to two comfortably, so it can be utilized as a couples' retreat or the ultimate self-care spot.

The cabin sits not far from Heart Lake, which is clean and crystal-clear year-round. In the winter, it tends to freeze over, but trust me: it's still photogenic and breathtaking. In the summer, enjoy all 63 acres of fresh, pristine water - the maximum depth is about 123 feet, ensuring plenty of space for boating and fishing.

Once you're tired and ready to retire, the tiny cabin awaits in all its delightful, quaint glory.

It's all one room, essentially, but it's somehow surprisingly roomy. Do keep in mind that there's a microwave but no full kitchen - it looks like you'll have to wander into town for your meals, and lucky for us, Gaylord is full of awesome eatery options. Craving barbecue? Check out The Iron Pig Smokehouse. For more American classics, consider The Pine Squirrel.

Need some things to do while out and about? No worries - Gaylord is full of opportunities. With awesome trails, beautiful woods, and plenty of things to do and see in and near town, you'll never get bored. Check out the shops and eateries (of which there are plenty!) and take your time - this is one of my all-time favorite small towns in Michigan, and I think you'll agree from the moment you arrive.

So, what do you think? I'm thinking that we should do Gaylord this weekend - and this adorable little vacation cabin rental in Michigan, too. If you're hoping to do some hiking, be sure to check out all the best hikes near Gaylord, Michigan, on AllTrails.
