Spend The Night In Maine’s Most Majestic Castle For An Unforgettable Experience
The Norumbega Inn in Camden, Maine, offers a luxurious and historic stay with stunning views of Penobscot Bay.
Mainers and tourists know that there's certainly no shortage of places to stay in Maine. Whether you love campsites near the ocean, cabins in the forest or five-star luxury, there's something for everyone here. With all that choice, it's hard to decide where to spend your time. So, we thought we'd help. When there's an actual castle available, why choose anything else?
The Norumbega Inn is located in Camden, overlooking the Penobscot Bay.
It was built in 1886 and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
The castle was originally built for Joseph Barker Stearn, who made his fortune with inventions in the telegraph industry.
The builder, Joseph Stearns, traveled extensively through Europe to draw inspiration for the castle.
The castle was converted into a B&B in 1984 and has been delighting guests ever since.
New owners, Philip Crispo and Susan Walser, took over in 2013 and renovated the property.
There are now 11 guest rooms, including 2 suites.
But, the point of the castle is to get out and enjoy the place, which happens at a central living room, sitting room, library, 'couples' landing, dining room and many decks for outdoor seating as well as nearly four acres of land!
There's even a 3-course breakfast included in your visit!
The grounds are impeccable and the place is truly special.
Its location near the water will calm and relax you.
With its luxurious service, it's probably not suitable for every weekend - but if you have a special occasion to celebrate it's worth the trip!
The Norumbega Inn is located at 63 High Street in Camden. You can call them on (207) 236-4646 or visit them online at their website or on Facebook.
