The park, which opened in 1961, is named “Two Lights” due to its proximity to twin lighthouses that are located on a nearby street. 1. Bunker Ruins

Two Lights State Park was once home to the Cape Elizabeth Military Reservation during World War II, and ruins from this time still stand within the park. The (locked) fire control tower surrounded by trees is always an interesting sight. Several old concrete bunkers are also fun places to explore.

2. Two Lights Hiking Trail

Two Lights State Park is the perfect spot for a peaceful, scenic stroll. The easy 1.9-mile loop trail is popular with walkers and runners, and can even be used by snowshoers in the winter. The trail offers fabulous views of Casco Bay. Be sure to stop and take note of all of the flowers, birds, and wildlife along the path. The trail is a wonderful spot to catch a cool breeze, snap some pretty photos, or just watch the boats sail by.  

3. Playground

Guests who are visiting Two Lights with young children will definitely want to check out the park’s playground. This sunny spot contains swings, slides, and a bridge. It is a fantastic area for a snack or picnic, which you can enjoy at one of the nearby tables or under a shady tree. There are also bathrooms located nearby. 

4. The Lobster Shack at Two Lights

Although the Lobster Shack at Two Lights isn’t actually located within the park, I decided to include it in this list because it is something that you really don’t want to miss. This small family-friendly restaurant offers spectacular views and delicious seafood. It is located only minutes from the Two Lights State Park and is the perfect place to end your visit.

Two Light State Park is open year-round and is a lovely place to visit in all seasons.
