Now that the holidays are over, the season just hits a little differently. The cold, ice, and snow make me want to either retreat inside and hide under a blanket until spring appears or take a long vacation to the warm beaches of the Caribbean. While neither of these is a realistic option, there is a peaceful place where I can enjoy a relaxing getaway and get warm and toasty, and believe it or not, that spot is in rural Lamoine, Maine.

Rosehip Sauna may be a tiny home, but it has plenty of room for up to four guests (including children). You can even bring your pets along. Wondering about sleeping arrangements? The cabin features an adorable built-in bunk bed nook with a comfy queen-sized bed on the bottom and a snuggly full-sized bed on the top. 

But my favorite part of this rental lies just outside the home. This woodsy property contains one of the best cedar barrel saunas in an Airbnb in Maine! The inside heats to a steamy 180 to 200 degrees, making it the perfect place to warm your chilly bones and to rejuvenate your soul. The hosts even provide slippers and robes to keep you toasty when you head back to the cabin. 

And you can enjoy even more outside warmth at the home’s firepit, or choose to curl up inside and read a book, watch a movie on the home’s Roku, or just sit back and enjoy the peaceful views of the falling snow. Although the home is off-grid, it has plenty of modern comforts, including a well-equipped kitchenette, composting toilet, and hot indoor shower. There is also an additional outdoor shower that is available to use during the warmer months.

If you decide to venture beyond the Roseship Sauna property, you will find lots of things to keep you busy, no matter when you visit. Winter is a great time to cross-country ski and take a cold-weather walk on the local beaches. Excellent shopping, restaurants, and attractions are plentiful in nearby Ellsworth and Bar Harbor. And don't miss Acadia National Park, which is only 27 minutes away. The park is a stunning sight to behold in the winter.
