Tucked away within the Alexander State Forest, Indian Creek Recreation Area is one of those hidden gems in Louisiana that once you see in person, you’ll want to keep all to yourself. And we wouldn’t blame you.

The Indian Creek Recreation Area is located in the tiny town of Woodworth, nestled away under the towering pines within the Alexander State Forest.

The recreation area hugs the beautiful Indian Creek Reservoir, a man-made reservoir that was created in the 1970s.

Indian Creek Recreation Area features 100 acres of recreational facilities and 250 acres of campsites, so you can rest assured you’ll have all the space you need to sprawl out.

Whether you prefer to pitch a tent or hook up your RV, you'll have some pretty spectacular waterfront views during your stay.

The 2,250-acre lake is the perfect place to spend a day on the water, weather that's fishing...

...kayaking...

...or enjoying one of the three beaches along the shoreline.

But the fun doesn't stop there.

The hiking trails will bring you all around the recreation area, with stunning views of the lake along the way.

Just look at that view!

There are plenty of picnic tables peppered along the tree line, so you can sit for a spell or cook up that fresh catch of the day.

Or you might find your own little secret corner to call your own.

You'll have a front-row seat to some positively gorgeous sunsets, too.

A waterfront sunset with your loved ones is the perfect way to end the day, and the sunsets over Indian Creek Reservoir are some of the best.

Be sure to head over to the Indian Creek Recreation Area website before you visit to check on rates and availability for the campsites. And don't forget about the many state parks in Louisiana with incredible waterfront camping opportunities.
