Chicot State Park is the largest state park in Louisiana, covering over 6,400 acres in South Central Louisiana.
Surrounding a 2,000 man-made lake, this scenic park is the ultimate outdoor adventure.
The whole family will enjoy a visit here. During the warmer months, the splash pad is a popular pastime for families with little ones.
Multiple playgrounds and even a special kid's trail provide year-round fun for even the tiniest nature lovers to enjoy.
Since the park is so large, you'll need a few days to explore it all.
There are several camping options, ranging from RV slots to glamping tents.
Of course, for a real treat, rent one of the waterfront cabins.
These cabins hover right above the water and have a dock, too.
You can pull your boat or kayak right up to your cabin!
Fishermen will enjoy casting a line in the cool waters of Lake Chicot.
You might just find a prized bass, bluegill, or crappie at the other end of your line.
One of the best ways to explore the park is by kayak or canoe.
You can rent a canoe from the park or bring your own to explore the lake from an entirely new perspective.
If you'd rather be on land, then the hiking trail is right up your alley.
The 26-mile trail completely encircles the lake, giving you beautiful views along the way.
Chicot State Park is open daily from dawn until dusk. As with all Louisiana State Parks, entrance is $3 per person, and free for seniors and children under 3 years.
