Bushton, Kansas, is a tiny town in northwestern Rice County. It's one of those places where nothing much happens, in the best possible way -- this quiet makes it the perfect setting for a wintertime escape. Winter in Kansas can be somewhat unpredictable - will there be snow, or no? - and it's no secret that folks enjoy the solitude in these quieter parts.

But if you ask me, it's because of this unpredictability that it's so delightful. You never know what's around the bend, but hey—we might as well start making plans for when it's frigid outside! Enter this gorgeous two-bedroom cabin rental in Kansas. Known as the Double H Lodge, this amazing little place is easily one of my favorites I've ever encountered in the Sunflower State.

If you think the outside is cute, wait 'til you go in! This rustic cabin has an old-school, hunter's lodge feel, offering sleeping space for up to nine guests in seven beds. The cabin is as hunter-friendly as it feels, and you'll find that there are even a few amenities to make it easier to get out into the wild.

The cabin is situated on vast, open land, and at night, the shimmering stars overhead will blow you away. There are so many of them that sometimes the sky seems four-dimensional, offering a million tiny glimpses into a past long, long gone. A fire pit outdoors is the perfect way to experience the night, especially in a highly rural area like this one.

The place has a kitchen complete with necessary fixings—just bring food! Few things are as luxurious as a home-cooked meal enjoyed under a canopy of ten million winter stars. The property the cabin is located on is gorgeous, and I suspect you'll certainly want to return just to experience each season here.

The Double H Lodge is perfect for families with kids, as one of the bedrooms has a set of bunk beds and a couple of single beds. All are cozy and ideal for an escape you (nor the kids) will never forget. When you feel like wandering, there are many delightful things to do around Bushton, Kansas, like the Ellinwood Underground Tunnels and The Slammer, as well as wonderful eateries you'll never find elsewhere.
