This Beachfront Airbnb Is the Perfect Home Base for Indiana Dunes National Park

Enjoy a pontoon, kayak, sauna, and more at this beachfront Airbnb.

Growing up in Chicagoland, paying an annual visit to the Indiana Dunes was a staple of my childhood. The excitement of climbing Mount Baldy and rolling down the sand was something I looked forward to every year when school let out for the summer. I vividly remember when the park updated its status from a state park to Indiana Dunes National Park. Whether you’re a Chicagoan on a weekend getaway, an Indiana local, or passing through on your road trip, this lakefront cottage is the perfect Airbnb to serve as your home base near the entrance of the national park.

This two-bedroom Airbnb is located about 15 minutes away from the national park on the shores of 100-acre Flint Lake. The highlight of this property is the 50-foot beachfront and the 2018 Sylvan pontoon boat, canoe, kayak, and sauna amenities that are included in any guest’s stay. If you’re into fishing, the lake is regularly stocked with seven-pound catfish and bass.

The vacation rental sleeps eight people. In addition to the two bedrooms and one and a half baths, the living room can be converted into a sleeping space for four with two couch beds and two air mattresses. The rustic living room features a TV, fireplace, and ample seating to relax with your crew.

Additionally, there is a full kitchen and dining room that’s ideal for cooking at home after a long day on the lake. A comfortable deck overlooks Flint Lake and includes both a BBQ and a fire pit. A washer and dryer are also available. Nobody likes putting on a wet swimsuit! Plus, the home offers a long driveway that can fit up to six cars.

The Airbnb hosts generously provide all of your beachfront essentials, including towels, an umbrella, a picnic blanket, and even snorkeling gear. Guests can count on other important amenities like WiFi, air conditioning, a coffee maker, a kettle, and self-check-in.

Conveniently located in the charming university town of Valparaiso, visitors will find plenty of things to do, like an outdoor roller and ice skating rink, wine bars, coffee shops, parks, local concerts, and more. You could even catch a football game if you’re visiting during the autumn months. Additionally, the property is a short drive from the South Shore train station, which takes passengers to downtown Chicago in approximately an hour.

Other popular things to do around the Airbnb include renting a paddle boat at Loomis Lake in Rogers Lakewood Park, or checking out the Calumet Bike Trail within Indiana Dunes National Park. Alternatively, explore one of the more than 50 miles of hiking trails within the park. Of course, you can always spend the day swimming and lying out at the national park’s beach.

With so many activities and attractions nearby, this Airbnb is the perfect getaway for anyone looking to explore the beautiful surroundings of Indiana Dunes National Park. Whether you’re seeking outdoor adventures, relaxing by the beach, or taking a quick getaway from Chicago, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
