With 30-Acres Of Lake, A Swimming Beach, And Paddle Boats, This RV Campground In Illinois Is A Dream Come True

Sycamore RV Resort in Illinois offers a picturesque and activity-filled camping experience from April to October.

Once winter is officially over, Illinoisians are bursting to get outdoors. With so many incredible parks, lakes, and miles of rolling country, camping is often one of the first things we think of. I grew up in rural Northern Illinois and spending an evening next to the campfire under the night sky was something I looked forward to every year. Little did I realize then that possibly the best RV campground in Illinois was right in my backyard. Sycamore RV Resort might just be the most epic campground in Illinois, and it's once again open for its season running through spring, summer, and fall.

Sycamore RV Resort is an RV camping resort in the charming small town of Sycamore in DeKalb County and has been family-owned since 1986.

One of the most popular RV resorts in the state, the park features more than 30 acres of lake access, with a private sandy beach perfect for swimming and fishing...

...or hopping in a paddle boat to take off on a water adventure. Rentals for paddle boats, row boats, and petal karts are all available starting at $5.

Those wanting a workout can play basketball or tennis on the outdoor court.

The resort is open from April 1 to October 31 with nightly rates starting at $48. Sites come with water, electric, and sewer hookups, as well as a fire pit. A major plus is that many of the sites are situated right near the water for gorgeous lakeside sunsets and easy access for canoe or kayak launches.

Leashed pets are allowed here, except at the beach.

At night, the sky and water connect to form a picturesque scene. Stars are brightly visible from the countryside, making it a peaceful getaway from dawn til dusk.

Growing up in DeKalb County, the star-lit sky is one of the things I love most.

Of course, the fun isn't limited to just the resort grounds — the RV park is perfectly located near downtown Sycamore, which is full of local dining, shopping, and stunning historic architecture.

After a long day at the beach, catch a new movie at the family-owned State Street Theater or catch a race at the Sycamore Speedway.

A favorite activity for locals and visitors alike is to spend some time at the Sycamore Family Sports Center, which offers mini golf, batting cages, a driving range, go-karts, and more. Across the street is the Sycamore Golf Club, a sprawling, pristine course perfect for a tranquil day on the green.

Right next to the family sports center and golf course is Dairy Ripple, a Sycamore staple known for its classic American food and ice cream. Pro tip: Make sure you get "eyes" with your cone!
