This Off-The-Beaten-Path Campground In Idaho Is The Perfect Place To Escape

The best camping spots in Idaho allow for opportunities to spend quality time in the gorgeous mountains. While we love exploring the Sawtooth Mountains and all of the remarkable destinations, the Seven Devils Mountains also deserve their chance to shine. The Seven Devils Mountains feature incredible peaks in west central Idaho and some pretty unforgettable hiking trails. But, these mountains are also home to Seven Devils Campground near Riggins, an off-the-beaten-path campground that is the perfect place to escape. Let's take a look at this Idaho campground.

Seven Devils Campground may quickly become one of your favorite spots in Idaho that typically opens in late June.

It is beautiful, near a gorgeous lake, and is a small campground so it's much easier to find peace and quiet and escape from reality for some time.

But, to reach this campground, it is not that easy: Seven Devils Campground is off the beaten path and offers some of the best secluded camping in Idaho, which we love.

You will find this campground approximately 17 miles on a dirt road that is steep and narrow, and low-clearance vehicles, RVs, and trailers are not recommended at this camping spot.

This campground is located just off Forest Road 517. Once you reach the 517 B intersection, turn left and travel approximately 0.3 miles until the campground entrance.

Be aware that Forest Road 517 can be slippery when wet or frozen.

Ten tent campsites are available in the campground and the sites are based on a first-come, first-served basis.

This is more of a primitive campground, making it perfect for an escape.

Limited amenities exist, such as picnic tables and toilets, but water is not available.

Add in the ease of spending time by yourself to the valuable assets that you find while staying at the Seven Devils Campground.

The available varied wildlife - including spring and summer wildflowers - makes you feel far away from reality. And, as you make the long drive, it is easy to leave all of your troubles behind.

While you can spend time at your campsite, I strongly recommend making the short walk to Seven Devils Lake.

Here, you will not only find the most picture-perfect views but there are also great fishing and bird-watching opportunities. Pack a lunch and spend the day sightseeing.

The closest town is approximately 18 miles away so you will want to come prepared with all of your camping supplies before you arrive.

You may have to put in a little effort, but your visit to Seven Devils Campground is one that you will not forget. It’s off-the-beaten path but the journey is well worth the destination.
