These 9 Haunted Hotels In Hawaii Will Make Your Stay A Nightmare
Discover haunted hotels in Hawaii where guests have reported spine-chilling paranormal experiences.
When most people check into a beautiful hotel in Hawaii, they expect comfort, some Hawaiian-themed décor, and maybe a nice view of the ocean. Guests do not often expect a nightmare-inducing, spine-chilling paranormal experience while on vacation. So, if you aren’t up for being a little spooked, you should stay away from these haunted hotels in Hawaii... or else.
1. Hilton Hawaiian Village, Honolulu
Guests and locals alike have told of a young, attractive woman in a red dress seen walking in the hallways or down the beach. There are two theories: one, that she is the spirit of someone murdered in a hotel room, or two, that she is the Pele, the volcano goddess.
2. King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel, Big Island
King Kamehameha is rumored to have been buried on or near the hotel grounds. Anyone who seeks the supernatural will want to visit the hotel’s top floor, where guests have heard sounds of battle, and apparitions of warriors. A portrait of Queen Liliuokalani, located on the ground floor, has been said to inhale and exhale before your very own eyes.
3. Waikiki Central Hotel, Oahu
Formerly the Waikiki Prince Hotel, guests have reportedly seen strange lights moving around the this property and have heard whispering voices. There have also been reports of luggage being moved around.
4. Volcano House Hotel, Big Island
A historic former private residence, the former owner and his family claimed to see an apparition of an elderly woman. She has also been seen in guest rooms and wandering the halls. Sightings of a ghostly white dog have also been reported on the entrance road to the hotel.
5. Halepuna Waikiki By Halekulani Hotel, Oahu
A worker who passed away has allegedly still been punching in for work. The machine records someone punching in with his card – even though his magnetic punch card was canceled. It has happened on more than one occasion – and the records only show him punching in, never punching out.
6. Sensei A Four Seasons Resort, Lanai
Formerly known as the Lodge at Koele, this Four Seasons resort property is rumored to be the home of several ghosts, including a little girl who likes to visit guest’s rooms. However, no one seems to know why these ghosts would be lurking around the hotel.
7. Kona Lagoon Resort, Big Island
Though the hotel was torn down in 2004, it is said to have been haunted by supernatural twin sisters who used to live in the area before the hotel was built. Footsteps, chanting, cries, and screams were all reported on the hotel’s upper floors. Most employees who worked there left, and the building sat vacant after Japanese developers abandoned the hotel in 1988.
8. Ihilani Resort, Oahu
It was the hotel’s 17th floor that was allegedly haunted by a guest who was said to have got sick on her vacation and suddenly died at the hotel. Guests stated that their sliding glass doors have opened and closed on their own and that an apparition of a woman may appear to watch over guests as they sleep. It is now permanently closed... thank goodness. Yikes.
9) Outrigger Resort and Spa, Big Island
Formerly the Kona Sheraton, and before that the Keauhou Bay Resort, and before that the Kona Surf, this hotel has been notoriously haunted for years. Guests have called to complain of two little girls playing in the hallways, but there is nothing the security guards can do, as they know the girls are ghosts and unlikely to listen anyway. Staff also speak of a ghost that stands at the cliff in front of the hotel on occasion, disappearing when you look away and then look back again. To the locals, it is obvious why there is so much paranormal activity: The hotel was built on an ancient battleground.Check out this YouTube video from AustinEVPLab to see what they discovered when they investigated:
