You’ll Never Forget Your Stay At Wupperman Campground, A Waterfront Campground In Colorado

Looking for an incredible, waterfront spot to go camping? You're going to love Wupperman Campground near Lake City, Colorado. This is a Hinsdale County-owned, public campground that is located on the eastern side of beautiful Lake San Cristobal, and all 31 of its sites offer plenty of space and unforgettable views. It's easy to see why we think that this is the best campground near Lake City, Colorado, and we even think that it may be one of the very best in the whole state. Read on to learn more about it.

Have you been to Lake San Cristobal? It's one of Colorado's most beautiful lakes. It was formed only about 700 years ago when a natural landslide created a dam across the Lake Fork of the Gunnison River. It's very blue due to the sky reflecting off sediment from the river floating in the lake before it settles at the bottom.

This lake is popular with anglers; a variety of species of trout live in the lake. Lake San Cristobal is also great for boating. Canoes, kayaks, and fishing boats are available to rent from local businesses, or you can bring your own craft. There's a public boat ramp and dock on the west side of the lake.
