Have you been to Lake San Cristobal? It's one of Colorado's most beautiful lakes. It was formed only about 700 years ago when a natural landslide created a dam across the Lake Fork of the Gunnison River. It's very blue due to the sky reflecting off sediment from the river floating in the lake before it settles at the bottom.

This lake is popular with anglers; a variety of species of trout live in the lake. Lake San Cristobal is also great for boating. Canoes, kayaks, and fishing boats are available to rent from local businesses, or you can bring your own craft. There's a public boat ramp and dock on the west side of the lake.

Camping at Wupperman Campground is fantastic! This campground is first come, first served - reservations are not accepted. There are 31 sites here to try!

It's open from Memorial Day weekend to the last week of September every year.

This campground is at 9000' so be prepared for the elevation and for cool temperatures, but you'll love everything about this place.
