Camping might not be the first thing that comes to mind in February around Buffalo, but these spots book up fast – and for good reason! Whether you like roughing it or are more of the "glamping" type, check out these eleven amazing camping spots and start planning ahead for your spring and summer getaways.
1. Evangola State Park (10191 Old Lake Shore Road, Irving, NY)
Whether you plan on tent camping, parking your trailer, or going the "glamping" route in one of Evangola's Yurts, this is a great spot to get away for the weekend! Enjoy the beautiful shores of Evangola Beach, partake in a game of disc golf, and let the little ones explore the playground and walking/bicycle path around the campground.
2. Golden Hill State Park (9691 Lower Lake Road, Barker, NY)
Head north of the city to Barker, NY to experience glowing sunsets, tour a historic lighthouse, and get your steps in on Golden Hill's hiking trails! This campground also has a playground for kids and rustic or electric campsites, depending on your idea of "roughing it."
3. Letchworth State Park (Castile, NY)
Letchworth is certainly one of Western New York's most popular camping destinations, and for good reason. Enjoy getting away from it all and taking it all in at "The Grand Canyon of the East."
4. Camp Chautauqua (3900 NY-394, Mayville, NY)
Camp Chautauqua is located in the town of Mayville along the shores of Chautauqua Lake. This campground has it all: full hook ups, wooded sites, and all the amenities you're looking for, including a swimming pool! It's also just a quick drive into town for several shopping and dining options. Don't leave without heading to Boxcar Barney's for ice cream!
5. Woodstream Campsite (5440 School Road, Gainesville, NY)
It might not look like much from the outside, but Woodstream is another great option for camping without skipping the amenities you want in a summer getaway. The campground has a putt putt golf course, beautiful playground area, swimming pond, and a stream to cool down on hot summer days. Woodstream also has some of the best camp roads for bicycling and enjoying family walks, and is located minutes from Letchworth State Park!
6. Sprague Brook Park (9674 Foote Road, Glenwood, NY)
If you're in the mood for no-fuss camping, Sprague Brook Park is the place to be! The park has several great options for campsites, a picturesque fishing pond, and several trails and playgrounds to enjoy.
7. Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park (5204 Youngers Road, North Java, NY)
If you're a "glamper," Jellystone is right up your alley. This campground is extremely family-oriented with a water park, wagon rides, canoeing, water sports, and more!
8. Lake Erie State Park (Brocton, NY)
Lake Erie State Park offers a beach, cabins, campsites, picnic areas, playgrounds, and pavilions for summer entertaining. The park is a great spot for hiking, biking, and fishing - or opt for a more relaxing activity and lounge on the sandy beach!

When you think Darien Lake, you probably think roller coasters and concerts, but Darien Lakes State Park offers tranquility away from the amusement park for those looking for a more peaceful stay. At Darien Lakes State Park, you get the best of both worlds: getting away from it all and only a short trip to the park for family fun!
10. Lazy Lakes Campground (4312 Church Road, Lockport, NY)
Lazy Lakes is a camping resort located in Niagara County. The campground offers plenty of activities and beautiful views, a swimming pool, two spring-fed lakes, 285 campsites, and over 80 acres of land!
11. Three Valley Campground (9766 Olean Road, Holland, NY)
Bring your golf cart to Three Valley Campground in Holland for "good times and great friends." This 500 acre campground has laundry facilities, a swimming pool, cabins, seasonal sites, a club house, and two lakes. With so much to enjoy, it's no wonder it's one of the most popular camping spots in the southern tier!
