The hotel originally opened on Oct. 5th, 1929 and was the gathering place for socialites from neighboring states. Considering the Great Depression began only a few weeks after the hotel opened, it's impressive that the hotel flourished for so long. Hotel Seville thrived for 30 years before closing for some time in the late sixties. After a number of exchanges and new additions, the building was once again center for hospitality.
The Spanish Revival architectural has been well maintained for nearly 90 years.
A well-known architect at the time, Eugene Johnson, was brought in from Missouri to design the hotel for $135,000. The round archways, decorative tile, and other small details are stunning. In 1994, Hotel Seville was added to National Register of Historic Places.
However, you certainly don't need to worry about outdated amenities.
Although the elegance of the original style is well preserved, the hotel has every modern amenity you could need. Wifi, luxurious baths, and small appliances are in every room.
You can also drop in for dinner if you don't have time to stay a week.
John Paul's Bar & Grill serves Black Angus steaks and burgers from 4 - 10 pm Tues - Sat. The original woodwork of the pub is gorgeous as well.
