1. It’s Practically the Serengeti Out Here

No other state has the ecological diversity of Wyoming. We've got bison, grizzly bears, black bears, wolverines, mountain lions, ospreys, eagles, and more. We also have the largest population of pronghorn antelope in North America.

2. Our Small Towns Are Really Small

The country's smallest town is Buford, Wyoming (having a population of only one person!), but that's not too surprising. There are dozens of tiny towns with fewer than 300 residents scattered throughout the state.

3. Even Our Bigger Cities Are Pretty Isolated

When 5,000 people sounds like a big city, that's because there's nothing on the outskirts of town. You'll travel for miles between our big cities if you want to find malls, retail stores, and restaurants. Still, there are plenty of hidden gems in Wyoming to be found between each stop.

4. Wyoming’s Landscapes Are Some of the Most Famous in the World

Thanks to photographers like Ansel Adams, who recognized the stunning beauty of Wyoming, our signature Tetons are recognized all over the world. Everyone should see the magic of Grand Teton National Park at least once in their life, that is, if it's not already first on your list of things to do in Wyoming.

5. Ordinary Roads Are Rare Here

One of those things that make Wyoming special is our majestic, winding roads. If you aren't climbing a mountain pass, you're fighting the wind or snow on I-80. There's no such thing as a typical day of driving in the Cowboy State.

6. We’re Home to Some of the World’s Only Singing Sand Dunes

Many people don't realize that we're home to a high desert, too! The Killpecker Sand Dunes are some of the world's only whistling, or singing, sand dunes. Who would have thought that was hiding here in Wyoming? It's an incredible phenomenon if you happen to experience it in person, and just one more reason why Wyoming is unique.

7. We're Not Even Worried About Our Active Supervolcano

What is special about Wyoming living? Wyomingites are not at all phased by the underground supervolcano that's going to kill us all one day. Nobody out here even talks about the caldera, but it's pretty amusing when tourists worry that it'll erupt while they're here.

8. There’s a Whole Lot of Open Space Out Here

You can travel for miles and miles in Wyoming without seeing another soul, and that's something that really makes Wyoming remarkable. Not to mention the positively breathtaking scenery you'll discover in every corner of our great state.
