5 Wisconsin Tourist Spots I Tried To Hate (But Ended up Loving)
These five popular tourist spots in Wisconsin are often considered tourist traps by visitors.
Wisconsin is home to many things. From the top-tier Culver's locations (the cheese curds don't lie) to beloved roadside attractions like the World's Largest (probably only) Hodag Statue, the Dairy State has iconic locations locked down. Yet, there are some touristy spots that people need to try even if they're overly popular. These are five tourist destinations I, as a born-and-raised Wisconsinite, can't say no to.
1. Lambeau Field - Green Bay

Despite my toddler years spent dancing around the living room pretending to be a Green Bay Packers cheerleader, I never developed an affinity for football. Even so, there is something magical about Lambeau Field. Whether full of adoring fans or just sporty shoppers in the pro shop, Lambeau is larger than life. Even after marrying into a Minnesota Vikings family, the call of the Cheesehead to visit Lambeau is still a siren song.
2. The House on the Rock - Spring Green
In all my travels, The House on the Rock is still easily the weirdest place I've ever been. Even if no one can convince me to go back to the dollhouse exhibit, the rest of this attraction is almost too fascinating for words. The giant whale room leads to the beautiful Japanese garden, or the Infinity Room, from which you can see for miles; there's a reason this tourist attraction gets so much attention. I can assure you, you'll love at least one part of this spot. For me, it's the carousel.
3. SafeHouse - Milwaukee
SafeHouse is hokey, but it's hokey like your grandmother's tchotchke collection—familiar and homey. This endearing espionage-themed restaurant and bar is located off an alleyway in Milwaukee. With its undescript entry to the secret password or silly stunt you have to do to get in, it's just a lot of fun. It's been a staple for nearly 60 years and never fails to entertain. I even spent part of my bachelorette party here—they made me hula hoop on the security camera for all barflies to see. And I'd still happily go back.
4. The Wisconsin Dells
Pick your poison. The Wisconsin Dells has a touristy place for everyone. You want themed waterparks? Go-kart tracks? Overpriced souvenir t-shirts? More fudge than even Willy Wonka could handle? The Dells has it all in spades. It could be the childhood nostalgia or just my fondness for boat tours, but either way, there is a special place in my heart for this city.
5. The National Mustard Museum - Middleton
In a nonchalant brick building in the suburb of Middleton outside of Madison, Wisconsin, you'll find the National Mustard Museum. Here is housed the world's largest mustard collection with over 5,500 pieces on display. Even though niche museums don't always work for me, something about this one does. I can't put my finger on why this place dedicated to my favorite hot dog accessory suits my tastes. I just know more people need to visit, which is why I wanted to spread the love by sharing it here.
