19 Images People From Vermont Will Immediately Recognize

What do the Eifel Tower, Statue of Liberty, Sydney Opera House, and the Leaning tower of Pisa all have in common?  They're iconic images that are known world-wide.  While Vermont may be small, we certainly have our own set of images that people from Vermont will recognize immediately.  Let's explore some popular sights and familiar images from Vermont.

1. The Whale's Tails

The sculpture of the Whale's Tails is titled Reverence and was created in 1989. It depicts two tails of whales "diving" into a sea of grass and is meant to symbolize the fragility of the planet.

3. Quechee Gorge

This 165 ft. deep gorge is the deepest in Vermont and is a popular tourist attraction. It can be viewed from the US Route 4 bridge and from trails on both sides of the gorge.

4. Church Street Marketplace

A popular place for boutiques and specialty shops, as well as live music entertainment in Burlington.

5. The Ticonderoga

This 220 foot side wheel steamboat is a National Historic Landmark and can be found at the Shelburne Museum.

6. Bernie Sanders

While Bernie isn't from Vermont originally, there is no denying that people immediately associate him with Vermont.

7. The golden dome

On the capitol building in Montpelier sits a golden dome, one of the few states in the country to have this feature on their state house.

8. Bennington Battle Monument

The monument which stands 306 feet 4 and 1/2 inches tall, commemorates the Battle of Bennington during the American Revolutionary War.

9. Floating Bridge

Vermont State Route 65 in Brookfield is home to the famous floating bridge.

Cows and moose and bulls, Oh my! Then again, what else would you expect from a state that has a 3 day festival revolving around cows?

Vermonters from all over look forward to this 10 day fair each year.

Whether we pick them ourselves or buy them at the store, the best apples are always from Vermont.

The premises for Simon Pearce studio and restaurant are simply stunning and unique.

These cows are not only all over the landscape, the cow print is famous too. Especially at Ben & Jerry's!

15. Hope Cemetery

The Hope Cemetery in Barre has monuments you won't find anywhere else in the world. Each is a stunning work of art.

16. Norman Rockwell

Rockwell's iconic paintings are full of small town, quaint charm - Just what you'd expect to find in Vermont. So it should come as no surprise that he painted these works while living in Vermont.

Kettle Pond in Groton State Park has a unique shape that is beautiful to view from any angle.

18. Hot Air Balloon Festival
