Here Are 9 Things Everyone In South Dakota Absolutely Loves

South Dakota is a state of so many amazing things. When we think about what a blessing it is to get to live in this wonderful state, many of the things we love come to mind. From mom's home cooking to that moment when a snow day is called, there are certain things that simply everyone in South Dakota absolutely loves.

1. Spending time with family.

When asked why they live in the stunning state of South Dakota, most everyone immediately answers, 'My family is here.'

2. The taste of home-cooked meals.

There is absolutely nothing better than a home-cooked meal. Somehow, mom's recipes just taste better when she makes them!

3. When you finally get a snow day.

You know the feeling. Sitting up late watching the KELO Clothesline to see if you've gotten a late start or beloved snow day. Though few and far between, these days off from school are every kid and teacher's dream!

4. The first 70 degree day in Spring.

You've been waiting in anticipation since October for this day. The day you start to believe summer might be coming after all. The day you walk outside and start to sweat because you forgot what the warm sun on your skin felt like.

5. Being outdoors.

No matter the season, one thing everyone in South Dakota absolutely loves is to be outdoors. Winter lends itself to sledding and cross country skiing while summer offers camping and boating and more. We live in a beautiful state and we love to get out there and enjoy it as much as we can.

6. Going hunting.

Okay, so not everyone loves hunting. Almost everyone in South Dakota loves hunting season and all that comes with it.

7. When someone from South Dakota makes it big.

As South Dakotans, we love seeing someone from our sparsely populated state make it big! We are happy to support and brag about all of our talkshow hosts, athletes, and reality show participants as they take the stage.

8. Being part of the community.

There is nothing better than living in a community where everyone knows your name. Taking care of each other is what we do best in South Dakota. (Hunting is a close second!)

9. Those evening summer thunderstorms.

With summer comes those beautiful evening thunderstorms. The sound of the rain and the fresh smell afterwards are unbeatable.
