6 Places in Ohio I Wouldn’t Take My Worst Enemy
I love Ohio! But it's not all sunshine and roses in the Buckeye State; there are definitely places I prefer... and don't!
Let me begin by saying: I love Ohio! I am Buckeye State born and bred; Cincinnati has my heart, Columbus never fails to impress, Dayton reminds me of my grandparents, Bowling Green is where my partner and I got engaged, and Hocking Hills is breathtaking, always.
I could go on, but you get the point. However, it's not all sunshine and roses in the Buckeye State; there are definitely places I prefer... and don't! Just for fun and in no particular order, here are six places in Ohio I wouldn't take my worst enemy...
The Ohio State Reformatory... at night

Widely considered one of the most haunted places in Ohio (and possibly the entire US), the Ohio State Reformatory played a key role in Stephen King's "The Shawshank Redemption" and has taken on a life of its own over the years. The prison closed in 1990 and during its 100+ year tenure, 154,000 inmates called it home. Some say these spirits continue to reside in the quiet halls and empty cell blocks today! Throughout the year, the Ohio State Reformatory hosts all sorts of events for ghost hunters and the paranormal curious, and while I've visited during the day, you could not pay me enough to visit at night!
A Cleveland Browns game

I live in Cincinnati and while I am not a football fan, my dad might disown me if I were ever to root for the Browns. However, as a huge MLB fan, I will say that Progressive Field offers some of the best stadium views in baseball!
Any of the roller coasters at Cedar Point

I am very afraid of heights and also at the age where even the slightest hiccup can result in a pulled muscle. Oh and I have major motion sickness too. All of this to say that roller coasters are a no-go for me and that especially includes tilt coasters, which I find downright terrifying.
Skyline Chili
Skyline Chili is an Ohio icon; my in-laws have a family dinner there every week and pretty much everyone adores it. Not me. Nope. I've never eaten Skyline Chili, and never plan to.
Mile 1, 2, or 22 of the Flying Pig Marathon

I ran the Flying Pig once, and that was one time too many. The course is unapologetically hilly, it's always much hotter than it ought to be in early May, and 26 miles is a lot. My legs hurt just thinking about it!
Columbus during an Ohio State Football game

I love Columbus, but it gets WILD during OSU football games. The crowds get rowdy, ramped up, and inebriated, resulting in the Buckeye State's very own version of carnival that's much too wild for me!
I suppose when it comes down to it, I'm just not an extreme kind of person. While I love traveling and exploring and geek out over local history and lore, you'll never find me skydiving or playing ghosts in the graveyard. Or eating Skyline Chili, but that's just me! Luckily, Ohio has options for everyone.
