10 Things Everyone Misses When They Leave North Carolina
Saying goodbye is hard to do, especially when you live in a beautiful state like North Carolina. Even if you're ready to get out and see the world, a few months down the road you'll still find yourself reminiscing and understanding exactly what you miss about 'home.' Here are the ten most common things everyone misses when they leave.
1. The southern hospitality.
Go up North and you realize how many genuinely nice people live in the south.
2. A proper way to express ourselves.
You mean you just yell at people, in public, when they make you mad? Bless your heart.
3. People understanding us.
It's like we speak another language or something!
4. Sweeeet tea!
'We only have unsweet' is one of the most soul-crushing things a North Carolinian can hear.
5. Our awesome "fast food!"
I wish the Bojangles and Cookout cravings on no one! I had to deal with them for almost a year. Terrible!
6. NC 'que.'
Getting BBQ in another state usually ends in me staring at the plate solemnly asking, "what is this?"
7. Honestly, all the food.
Unless you stay in the south...I'm so sorry.
8. The most tried and true method for giving directions.
Cool, the fact I get on this highway, and this turnpike, means nothing to me. Can you please just tell me if i'll see a McDonalds on my right and after about a mile or so there will be a Four Brothers up yonder on the left?
9. The scenery.
I've traveled to a lot of places, even to Europe, and while breathtaking and beautiful in its own way, I'm still amazed by how gorgeous North Carolina is. We're so lucky to be from such a beautiful place. From the beach to the mountains, there's a lot to miss!
10. The culture, the state, the people, even the things we thought we wouldn't miss.
I've left North Carolina before, I'm sure I will again, but North Carolina always stays in your heart no matter how far you go.
Did we 'miss' anything (haha)? If you're reading this from another state, I hope you can return to North Carolina someday. Tell us exactly what you miss about the ol' Tar Heel state in the comments!
