10 Surefire Signs You Have Strong Roots in Montana

There are so many things we have pride in. Our ancestry, the things we've overcome, and our successes. But, without a doubt, I always find myself most proud of where I come from. Luckily, I have the privilege of calling a variety of places home. After all, home truly is where you feel you belong most. That might be with friends, your childhood home, or where you fell in love. It's fair to say you have roots in any place that feels most comfortable for you. And, for those with roots in Montana who are proud of everything that comes along with that, be sure to check out the Wear Your Roots brand.

1. No matter where you are, driving in snow is a breeze.

From the moment you were able to operate a vehicle, navigating through a snowstorm was second nature. Whether it's a rocky mountain road or I-90, a snowy drive is nothing more than a mild inconvenience at worst.

2. You're most comfortable in wide open spaces.

If you have roots in Montana, there's a good chance you feel more comfortable with plenty of room to roam. That might be for a fun adventure or simply some time alone on a long drive. Either way, the land in every corner of the state is something spectacular to see.

3. You know there's no steak like a steak from home.

All across Montana, you'll find incredible steakhouses. Each one is perfect for a hearty meal. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply feel like a great dinner, you'll find it at a local steakhouse.

4. You know that wildlife is abundant and should be revered.

If you've spent enough time in Montana, you know that you might run into wildlife just about anywhere. That likely means you have a healthy respect for animals of all types. Looking out at your backyard or driving through Glacier National Park, there's a good chance you'll come face to face with a furry friend.

5. You don't think a fancy resort offers the optimal overnight experience.

Instead, making a camp in the mountains feels like perfection. Waking up to a sunrise with a warm cup of tea feels like one of the best ways to start the day in any state, but definitely at home in Montana.

6. You know that the best place to get to know someone isn't a bar.

A campfire has always been the best way to share stories, remember the past, and talk about the future. In a lot of states, it might feel natural to do that over dinner or drinks. In Montana, it's easy to do it that way, but we mostly love ending the night with a slight smell of campfire on our clothes.

7. You know just how special Wilcoxson's Ice Cream is.

You can buy it in the grocery store or find it out in the wild. But, no matter where you enjoy it you know that having roots in Montana means cherishing this Livingston-made treat.

8. You've missed school for fishing or hunting.

While education is always important, there's nothing quite like what can be learned by spending the day outside with friends and family. If this wasn't how you grew up, there's a good chance you recall days when school felt emptier while other kids were out enjoying these types of activities.

9. You know what Rocky Mountain oysters are and would eat them again.

They're not for everyone, but if you're from Montana there's a good chance you've had your share. Do you like them? Not necessarily. Will you defend them to people from other states? Absolutely!

10. You know all of the signs of summer.

There are surely lots of independently owned ice cream shops to enjoy, but there's a good chance you looked forward to the local Dairy Queen opening to signal the arrival of summer vacation. A sundae or a Dilly Bar was all you needed for a good day.

Anyone with roots in Montana can agree that there's simply nothing like the feeling of being able to say this is your home. While this list certainly only scratches the surface of what there is to love about life here, it's a great way to remember just how lucky you are to call this state home.
