You’re not likely to find a prouder group of people than those who call Montana home. But the fact is, there’s a lot about the Treasure State to be proud of. Here are 10 of the many reasons why those born and raised in Montana appreciate their good fortune:

You can only find these beauties in the Treasure State, and they're truly something special.

2. Yellowstone was the first national park in the world.

Even though Montana shares the park with Wyoming and Idaho, it’s still pretty amazing being part of that history.

3. A Montanan invented the heart monitor.

The heart monitor was invented by Norman Holter, who was from Helena. Like a true Montanan, Holter donated the rights to his invention to medicine.

4. Montana is full of beautiful wildlife.

Grizzly bears, deer and elk, bighorn sheep, bison, trumpeter swans...and that’s just a small sample of what you’ll see.

5. Some very well-known celebrities were born in Montana.

Among others, Michelle Williams, David Lynch and Evel Knievel were born here.

6. Glacier National Park is the crown jewel of the continent.

No one can argue that.

7. Montana even does legends best.

The biggest city in Montana, Billings, is still fairly small by other state standards. In every town you visit, you’ll find friendly people who will look you in the eye and greet you with a smile. And that’s something you definitely won’t see everywhere.
