10 Ways Living In Maine Ruins You For Life

Living in Maine spoils residents with its natural beauty and unique local culture, making it hard to appreciate other places.

It's not easy living in the best state in the country. For one, you've probably become accustomed to a perfect view anytime you lift your eyes. Or, even worse, you know what it's like to be able to swim at the beach in the morning and summit a peak in the afternoon. It's awful living in a place that's pretty much perfect. And, here are 10 reasons why.

1. You'll never fully appreciate another sunset.

Once you've seen even just one in Maine, no other sunset will ever compare.

2. Every other place will feel downright rude.

After living in a place where neighbors don't mind lending a helping hand for anything, anytime, in any situation, you'll find yourself judging the kindness of other states pretty harshly.

3. White table cloth dinners will be totally unimpressive.

But if you do find yourself in a nice restaurant, don't bother ordering the lobster. If your lobster roll doesn't come from a shack in Maine, it's not going to measure up.

4. National Parks in other states will bore you.

When your hometown park includes the peaks and coastline of Acadia, no rocky arches in Utah will ever measure up.

5. You'll steer clear of any blueberry that's not from Maine.

Good thing so many of them are grown here!

6. Staying at the Four Seasons won't impress you.

Not after being surrounded by the charming B&Bs of Maine.

7. Anytime you leave your house, you'll feel surrounded.

The wide open spaces of Maine make every other place feel like a sold-out Taylor Swift concert.

8. You won't understand why people are making a big deal of the cold.

If it's sunny and over 50, it's basically spring in Maine.

No other dessert will ever taste delicious.

Not after a childhood of whoopie pies, Maine's official state treat.

10. Oh, you want me to feel bad about your rainy spring in New York?

In Maine, we have mud season and this is what I look like during my commute to work. I AM NOT IMPRESSED WITH YOUR RAINY SPRING.
