One of the best parts of living in Louisiana is our exposure to incredible food prepared with quality ingredients. People travel from all over the world to get a taste of our unique culinary landscape, and we are just so blessed to have access to all this delicious cuisine whenever we want. There's one little unassuming building that may not look like much from the outside, but we promise you it's worth your time to stop in. We're talking about Herby-K's in Shreveport, a family-owned joint since the 1930s that's serving up some of the most mouthwatering dishes in Louisiana. Let's take a closer look.
When it comes to classic hole-in-the-wall restaurants, few compare to the legendary Kerby-K’s in Shreveport.
This iconic family-run restaurant has been a Shreveport culinary landmark since 1936.
Not much has changed in the 80+ years this beloved joint has been around, and that’s one of the reasons generations of Louisianians have been frequenting this joint for decades.
Whether you dine at the bar, the dining room, or one of their patio tables, you’ll want to get there early if you want a seat. This tiny but mighty restaurant fills up quickly.
This little slice of Shreveport history has a lot of memories packed into these walls, and the food is just as historic. You’ll find all your Louisiana favorites on the menu.
From overstuffed po’boys…
...to big mouth burgers, there’s something for everyone on the menu.
Their seafood specialties are truly something special. There’s a grilled catfish fillet underneath that mound of crawfish étouffée!
One thing Herby-K’s is known for is the Shrimp Buster. This iconic dish was created by Herby-K himself in 1945, and no trip to Herby-K’s is complete without getting one of these incredible open-faced sandwiches.
The popular dish features butterflied shrimp fried to golden perfection and served on top of buttered and toasted bread with a side of French fries, Coleslaw and their famous Shrimp Buster sauce. This original dish is truly one-of-a-kind and worth a road trip from any corner of the state.
Herby-K’s is open six days a week.
Monday through Thursday: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Friday and Saturday: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
