Kentuckians have unique habits and traditions that reflect their pride in local culture and heritage.
Here in Kentucky, we're very proud of our history, heritage, and culture. We are a wholly unique group with traditions that combine the best of Southern hospitality, local history, regional culture and dialect, and a big dash of Bluegrass pride. As a result, when non-locals meet a Kentuckian, they might be taken aback by some of our habits and quirks, which might be misconstrued as oddities or eccentrics. But we know the truth: these 15 undying habits prove you can never take the Kentucky out of the Kentuckian... nor would we want to!

All y'all, all the time!
Front porches aren't a decorative accent; they're a way of life.
Stop and say hello -- but don't be surprised if an entire afternoon passes whilst chatting on the porch. Bonus Bluegrass points if its ceiling is painted blue.
We're known to bring Ale-8-One to every Bluegrass barbecue!
What can we say? We have a lot of love for our official state drink!
Our bourbon is world famous, and we're very, very proud of that...
...and yes, we believe bourbon belongs on everything!
The Colonial is Bluegrass royalty, and we are very proud of our fried chicken clout.
The Kentucky Derby is basically a statewide holiday.
We've been known to spontaneously burst into rip-roaring jam sessions. We are called the Bluegrass, after all!
Tennessee may lay claim to Dolly, but the Bluegrass is all about Loretta.
Daniel Boone is a state hero, and you'll find many an attraction and destination named after Kentucky's favorite founding father.
Once the weather shows any signs of warming up, we're out on the water! And that's where you'll find us all summer long.
We also know the best adventures happen underground. Not to brag, but we're kind of world-famous for our incredible caves.
Directions are given in times, not miles. And everything is in relation to the two Ls: Lexington and Louisville.
And speaking of Louisville, we never can quite agree on how to pronounce our largest city...
Is it Lou-EE-ville? Lou-UH-ville? Let's just agree to disagree...
One thing we can all agree on, however, is just how beautiful the Bluegrass is. We're very proud of our natural beauty, and aren't shy about letting everyone know it!
