Legend has it Daniel Boone saw the Bluegrass region of Kentucky from this overlook for the very first time in 1796 -- and on the Pilot Knob trail, you can experience this resplendent scene, too.
The 2.2-mile Pilot Knob Trail features a brisk climb and spectacular views that can reach all the way to Lexington on a clear day.
Due to the elevation climb, this trail is rated as moderate. However, it's well-maintained and marked, making it a favorite for hikers of all ages and skill levels.
The vistas aren't just at the end of the hike; along the way, you'll pass some stunning rock formations and features.
While gorgeous all year long, the trail is particularly beautiful in the fall, when its foliage is painted in red, orange, and gold hues.

From this perch, it’s possible to see into the Bluegrass, Knobs, and Cumberland Plateau regions. It's truly a feast for the eyes.
