There's something special about Indianapolis and any Hoosier who has lived here would agree. Indy is a unique city full of natural beauty and attractions. It's also a great place to call home. No matter where you go in life, here are 9 things that will always make Indy Hoosiers think of home.
1. The Indiana State Fair
This annual festival is held at the state fairgrounds in Indy every year and every true city Hoosier knows it's just not summer without a visit to the state fair. You simply can't hear about a state fair without thinking of home.
2. Farm fresh corn
Does this one really need any explanation?
3. Race day
No matter where you are in the world, it's absolutely impossible not to miss your home city on race day!
4. Basketball
The Midwest loves basketball and here in Indy, we're absolutely crazy about it. Whether it's college or pro, you won't be able to think about the game without smiling about the place where you grew up.
5. One way streets
One way streets exist throughout the country, sure, but when you get the urge to turn left at a red light, you're going to be missing this driver-friendly city.
6. This epic sandwich
You're not going to find this bad boy throughout the rest of the country. Anytime you crave this epic tenderloin sandwich, you're bound to miss home.
7. Craft beer or wine
Indy is so packed full of craft breweries and meaderies that you'll find yourself missing them if you ever move away.
8. Buying alcohol on Sundays
You can't do this in Indy! If you're ever in another state, you're bound to smile thinking you're getting away with something really sneaky when you purchase alcohol on Sundays.
9. When someone asks you what a Hoosier is
Everyone from Indy knows there's no good way to answer this question, but we can't help but hear the word 'Hoosier' without swelling up with pride. Indy's the best!
