Not Many People Realize That These 10 Things Are Actually Illegal In Illinois

Illinois has several bizarre and amusing laws that are still technically enforceable.

Most of the country's laws are pretty legitimate and have clear reasoning behind them, but if you love looking up weird laws in Illinois, it's likely that you've seen some that will make you scratch your head. Who the heck came up with these?! These weird Illinois laws are often the most interesting ones. It's unlikely that many of these would ever be enforced, but we find it hilarious that they're still on the books. If you're looking to remain on the right side of the law, here are some weird laws in Illinois that you'll want to avoid:

1. In Normal, it is illegal to make faces at dogs.

But seriously, how can you not smile back? He's adorable!

2. It is illegal to give a pet a cigar.

What is wrong with people?

3. It's illegal to eat in a burning building.

Some like it extra hot, apparently.

4. In Chicago, it is illegal to take a French poodle to the opera.

Hope that your dog isn't a fan of Puccini!

5. In Eureka, it's illegal for a man with a mustache to kiss a woman.

I know some women who would be in favor of that.

6. In Chicago, it's illegal to go fishing in your pajamas.

What should you wear, a suit and tie?!

7. It is illegal to give whiskey to dogs.

Seriously, what is wrong with you people?

8. It is illegal to mispronounce Joliet as "Jolly-ette."

I'm shocked by how many people I hear mispronounce this town name.

9. In Ottawa, it is illegal to spit on the sidewalk.

Seriously, though, it is a pretty disgusting habit. This is one funny law in Illinois we are fans of.

10. In Kenilworth, a rooster must stand back 300 feet from a residence if it wishes to crow.
