Delawareans speak with a Delaware pronunciation! If you can pronounce these Delaware town names and everyday words, you've been spending the right amount of time here in the First State.

1. Harrington

Down here, we know the state fair is in Herinton. All those extra letters are just for decoration.

2. Creek

Again with the extra letters! Cant we just spell it "crick" and call it a day?

3. Lewes

It's always fun to hear tourists say they're going to "lews" for the weekend. Around here, we call it Lewes (lew-es). This time, we need those extra letters!

4. Spigot

This one is just spelled all wrong! In the summertime, you hook the hose up to the spicket outside when you need a drink

5. Clayton

I heard someone call the town "Clayton" once and it threw me off. I've only ever talked about heading up to "Clay-In".

6. Milford

We like to switch up our "d" and "t" in Delaware, and Milford becomes Milfurt. Seaford is another one that falls victim to the letter swap.

7. Newark

This one's huge. If you ever try to call our city "New-erk", like that New Jersey city, you'll hear it from us! Our charming little town is New-ARK.

8. Eagles

We aren't talking about the ones that fly out of Bombay Hook, no. Delawareans care a whole lot more about the "Iggles".
