18 Reasons Why My Heart Will Always Be In Arkansas
A lifelong Arkansas resident shares personal reasons why the state holds a special place in their heart.
Guys, this one is personal. I have lived my whole life in Arkansas, and though I’ve had the privilege of riding a gondola in Venice and staring at the Alps from the ruins of an actual castle, my heart never really left home. I’ve constructed a list of whys. I hope you find something of yourself in these reasons:
1. Because family is important here. . .
2. Because there’s nothing like a sunrise over the Ozarks. . .
3. . . . or a sunset over Beaver Lake .
4. Because we preserve our history. . .
5. . . . and cherish our future.
6. Because I can stop by the road to buy herbs and summer squash . . .
7. . . . or go out my backdoor to find tomatoes.
8. Because there’s nothing quite like a Ouachita autumn . . .
9. . . . or an Ozark spring.
10. Because I can find water anywhere . . .
11. . . . or drive a little while and hike to a cave.
12. Because we care for our wild things . . .
13. . . . and preserve our wild places.
14. Because I can go to any diner . . .
15. . . . eat delicious food . . .
16. . . . and find some friendly folks.
17. Because I can find adventure . . .
18. . . . or peace.
