9 Places To Get Tacos That Are Out Of This World Good In Southern California
It seems like there’s a new taco shop popping up on every street corner here in Southern California. While many of them are quite excellent, there are a few that really stand out and make you want to return again and again. Here are 9 of my favorite taco spots in SoCal that leave me daydreaming about tacos day and night. Do you have a personal favorite on this list?
1. Taco Beach -- Long Beach
It's hard to pick a favorite at Taco Beach. Some days I'm craving the Grilled Mahi Tacos because I can't get enough of that house-made Baja sauce and other days I go for the Cali Tacos with carnitas inside. Do you have a favorite taco at this spot?
2. Pedro's Tacos -- San Clemente, Fallbrook and Oceanside
You can't go wrong with any of the tacos on the menu at Pedro's, but the real standout here are the fish tacos. Just look at that hearty piece of fried fish with a layer of crispy cabbage on top! My mouth is watering!
3. El Taco Asado -- Palm Springs
If you're looking for a great taco spot in Palm Springs, El Taco Asado is a great place to stop. The tacos are piled high with fresh lettuce and cheese and the tortillas are fresh and crisp. What's the most popular taco on the menu? Shredded beef seems to be a big hit. And make sure to order a side of guacamole with your order as it's pretty darn tasty and fresh.
4. Beach House Tacos -- Ventura
You can't go wrong at a taco shop that has a line this long. People keep showing up because these just might be the best tacos in town. Pictured here: Ahi taco with a cucumber-ginger salad and a slice of fresh avocado on top. I'm in taco heaven just thinking about the Ahi taco.
5. Los 5 Puntos -- Los Angeles
There's nothing fancy about Los 5 Puntos. In fact, it's the hole-in-the-wall atmosphere that makes me gravitate to this local taco shop. Since 1967, Los 5 Puntos has been making some tasty tacos that are so big they are messy. But messy means delicious in my book. Stuffed with the most flavorful meat, guacamole and fresh salsa you can imagine, you'll devour every last bite. Grab extra napkins -- you've been warned.
6. Lucha Libra -- San Diego
This is one funky taco shop! Located in the vibrant neighborhood of North Park in San Diego, experiencing this neighborhood is part of the fun. The Surf n Turf taco pictured here is my go-to order. It's filled with seasoned steak and shrimp and topped with fresh avocado and a drizzle of chipotle sauce on top. There are plenty of other amazing tacos to choose from, but I am kind of hooked on this one.
7. Los Cabos Tacos -- Riverside
I love finding local gems that knock my socks off -- and this spot is definitely one of those finds. This little taco shop can be found in Riverside tucked inside an average business strip mall. You MUST order the fish tacos. The battered fish will melt in your mouth and the fresh toppings give it a pop of flavor in every bite. A single taco is only 99 cents so go ahead and order more than one.
8. King Taco -- Los Angeles and other SoCal locations
King Taco originally got its start in 1974 selling tacos from an old ice cream truck. Fast forward to 2016 and King Taco has multiple locations throughout SoCal to satisfy its loyal following. Flavorful meat sautéed to perfection with a healthy sprinkle of onions and cilantro on top makes for a simple taco bursting with flavor.
9. Snapper Jack's Taco Shack -- Thousand Oaks, Ventura, and Camarillo
The crispy tacos are the way to go at Snapper Jack's Taco Shack. The tortillas are crisp, light and flaky, and add the perfect flavor and texture to any taco you order.
I’m craving tacos, tacos, and more tacos. Oh, and some guacamole, of course! Is your mouth watering yet? Are you jumping in your car and heading to the nearest taco shop? If you can’t get enough SoCal tacos, I’ve put together a handy dandy guide on where you can find
