South Dakota has a lot to brag about. Being the humble folks we are, South Dakotans choose to mostly keep quiet about our great state. Though quiet, we have so much to enjoy and be proud of. If we were the kind to brag, we might tell other people about these things to get them here.
1. We have all four seasons.
Not only do we have all four seasons, we find things to enjoy in them all. Spring brings a chance to get outside and start your garden, crack your windows open and smell those first spring showers. Summer brings camping and drive in movies. In fall, we get outside and enjoy the last warm weather and falling leaves. Winter brings the snow that allows us to enjoy snowman building and skiing.
2. South Dakota has lots of free music.
From LifeLight Music Festival to Hills Alive to Jazzfest, South Dakota is truly a land that loves music and experiencing it with others.
3. Unparalleled beauty.
The stunning natural beauty of South Dakota is unlike anywhere else in the country. It is something South Dakotans never take for granted.
4. South Dakota is one of the safest places to live.
According to Neighborhood Scout, South Dakotans are 6.8 times less likely to be the victim of a crime than the average American.
5. We have a low cost of living.
The low cost of housing along with no state income tax helps South Dakota have an impressively low cost of living.
6. Everyone knows everyone.
When someone mentions they know someone from South Dakota and you instinctually ask, "Oh, who?" There's a 50/50 chance you will actually know the person coming from a state with only 850,000 people.
7. The nicest people live here.

With all of these shocking facts about South Dakota, we can’t imagine not wanting to live here. Although, for those of us that have grown up in the state, these facts are not that surprising.
