This Creekside Restaurant In South Carolina Is A Beautiful Place To Dine
If you’re seeking a casual atmosphere with delicious food and unforgettable views, then it’s hard to beat a dining experience on Shem Creek in Mount Pleasant. Found within the Charleston Metro Area, Mount Pleasant begins at the foot of the colossal Arthur Ravenel, Jr. Bridge just on the other side of the Cooper River from Charleston. And Shem Creek is only minutes away once you reach solid ground in what the locals call “East of the Cooper.”
With picturesque views of the shrimp boats that dock on Shem Creek as well as views of Charleston Harbor, Vickery's Bar & Grill is the last establishment in a row of businesses that abut the creek. The views just don't get any better than this!
Due to the popularity of Shem Creek restaurants and Vickery's, in particular, it can be a wait for a table here. But who cares when you have a few different bars at which to sit and sip on something cold — and gawk at the beautiful surroundings?!
If weather permits and there are open seats, then sit outside on the understated deck. The breeze is amazing and your creekside perch will have views that are unsurpassed in the whole Charleston area. While it's true there are other restaurants located on this scenic creek, Vickery's Bar & Grill has the best views on this side of the creek.
Opened in 1993, Vickey's Bar & Grill has received accolades from near and far for their Southern-infused cuisine. When it comes to the classics, like shrimp and grits, you'll savor these time-honored Lowcountry traditional dishes at Vickery's.
But Vickery's doesn't just stick to basic Southern fare. This donut burger, which popped up as a daily special, is evidence of a kitchen that has excellent taste and a great sense of humor.
Most people who head to Shem Creek for dinner have one thing in mind: seafood. Afterall, this is where the shrimp boats dock after the day's haul. So where better to find fresh shrimp and seafood galore? Whether you want flounder, mahi mahi, shrimp, or more... and whether you want it baked, broiled, boiled, or fried, Vickery's aims to please every palate.
A full bar — both upstairs and at their downstairs, more casual establishment (Muddy's) — means there's even more reason to linger a little longer at this lovely spot on Shem Creek, either before or after your meal. Sunsets are stunning from this Shem Creek roost.
Locals know: waterfront dining on the coast doesn’t always mean oceanfront. At this creekside restaurant in South Carolina you’re sure to leave happy and satisfied.
Vickery’s Bar & Grill is open year-round. The hours are seven days a week 11 a.m. – 2 a.m. (Sunday brunch begins at 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.). Learn more on their official website.
Before or after your meal at Vickery’s Bar & Grill, take a walk on Mount Pleasant’s boardwalk park: Shem Creek Park. It’s located right next door to the restaurant! Read all about it in this previous article.
