18 Undeniable Things You’ll Find In Every South Carolina Home

Here in the south there are certain things you need for survival and I’m sure it’s the same for every region of the United States. Now, I’m not saying that you won’t find these particular items in other homes in other regions. What I am saying is that almost every home in South Carolina will have these particular items. They’re just that essential.

1. I'm making a pretty safe bet when I say that I believe every house in South Carolina has an air conditioner. Otherwise, we would just melt into puddles during the summer.

2. Sugar. What? We need it to make iced tea and delicious home baked goods.

3. A handmade quilt and/or crocheted throw. I have bunches.

4. As hardcore as SC is about their college teams, I'm pretty sure we have sports memorabilia in our homes!

5. Flip flops...they are definitely a summer (and in some cases year-long) necessity.

6. Swim gear can be found in everyone's home I'm quite sure.

7. Corn oil, vegetable oil, olive oil, Crisco... We need at least one of these so that we can make pie crusts, biscuits, and fry delicious chicken!

8. Crock pots...because who wants to heat up the entire house to cook! Slow cooking is the way to go during the hotter days of the year.

9. Tanning oil and/or sunblock. I'm a sunblock girl myself and, yes, this is the brand I use and I usually go for the 100% variety.

10. There is an undeniable need for bug spray/mosquito spray in SC. Mostly because the mosquitos will tote you away if you don't shoo them away first!

11. A fly swatter is a definite survival tool if for nothing else other than your sanity.

12. Antiques of some sort happen to be in just about every home whether it is a necklace, books, china, etc.

13. A cast iron skillet is always handy especially if you love oven baked cornbread!

14. Mason jars because they make great drinking glasses.

15. China of some sort for special occasions or because they are scattered pieces left by someone special.

16. A gun of some sort whether for protection or hunting.

17. Something monogrammed.

18. Tea bags are a must so that we can make iced tea of course!
