The Rock Hill Printing and Finishing Company, known locally as “The Bleachery,” opened in 1929 with 400 employees who bleached, dyed, printed, and finished cloth. It was one of 34 textile mills in the area at the time, and it grew to 4,800 employees at its peak in 1965, one of the largest textile finishing plants in the country. When it closed in 1998, it was the only mill still operating in Rock Hill. For decades, it has sat vacant, and it was listed in the National Register on February 5, 2013. Finally, the property was purchased by The Sherbert Group, known for breathing life into old buildings, and what has resulted is an incredible unique mixed-use space including luxury apartments, a barber shop, and a food hall. You’ll love seeing what’s been done with this project, known as The Power House, in Rock Hill.
