The Most Unique Denny’s In The World Is Right Here In South Carolina
The Denny's on Harbison Boulevard in Columbia, South Carolina, offers a unique retro dining experience reminiscent of the 1950s.
Denny’s, formerly Danny’s Donuts, Danny’s Coffee Shops, and then Denny’s Coffee Shops before finally settling on its current name, has been around since 1953 when the first Danny’s Donuts was opened in Lakewood, California by Harold Butler and Richard Jezak. Denny's started franchising in 1963, and most Denny's restaurants are now franchisee-owned. Its headquarters moved from California to Spartanburg in 1991, but the most unique Denny’s in the world is actually in Columbia!
This Denny's is located on Harbison Boulevard and is quite possibly the most retro-styled restaurant in South Carolina, even beginning with its exterior appearance. What fun digs!
Inside the restaurant, it looks and feels as though you've stepped back into the '50s when the first Danny's Donuts opened.
Most Denny's locations are open 24 hours, seven days a week, when required by the franchise agreement.
Eating here is truly more of an experience than just having a meal.
And as cool as it is during the day, it's even cooler at night with the colorful lighting!
On the menu, you're going to find classic American fare across breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. Denny's is most known for breakfast items like peanut butter cup pancakes and steak and eggs.
One fun menu item was introduced in Atlanta by Denny's in 1977. It's called the Grand Slam, named in honor of Hank Aaron. It's a build-your-own breakfast where you can select four items.
For an appetizer, you can order classic items such as nachos or they've got a unique selection called Strawberry Pancake Puppies, which is made with strawberries and white chocolate chips, sprinkled with powdered sugar and served with cream cheese icing – it's pretty much eating dessert first. But hey, you only live once, right?!
If you want to eat light, Denny's offers a house salad and a cobb salad.
Of course, you can get anything you'd expect to be find at a classic American diner, such as hamburgers, chicken tenders, steak, and much more.
Visit the Denny’s website and the Denny's Facebook page for more information. After your meal at Denny’s, head over to this riverwalk trail that leads to a beautiful island!
