The old rural South is alive and well at a little-known cafe found along U.S. 1 in South Carolina. The next time you’re up for a little foodie road trip, load up the car and head to Cassatt, a rural, unincorporated community found between Camden and McBee in rural South Carolina.

You won't find much in Cassatt except a country store and a little cafe located across the street. The name is easy to remember. It's called Hwy 1 Cafe.

It's not shiny and new, but step inside to find a bright and airy, welcoming atmosphere and service always with a smile.

And while Hwy 1 Cafe does have a menu from which you can order up delicious home-cookin', it's the all-you-can-eat lunch buffet that really shines.

Everything is made fresh daily, and there is always plenty to choose from.

Of course, the main dishes alternate, but there's always a number of delicious meat and seafood choices.

And pasta! There's really something for everyone on this lunch buffet.

And the best part is that it's very affordable!
