When u-pick apple season rolls around in South Carolina, there’s no better place than the upstate for finding an orchard to pick your own. In fact, two orchards that offer pick-your-own apples are located not far from one another near Mountain Rest and Long Creek. Both offer a number of apple varieties that extend the u-pick season well into the fall season. In addition to fresh apples on the tree, Chattooga Belle Farm, found in Long Creek, also offers a variety of exotic fruits, like paw paws and figs. Bryson’s Apple Orchard near Mountain Rest also has a fruit stand where you can choose to purchase already picked apples if you prefer that over picking your own.

A number of variables factor into the ripening dates for the various apple varieties grown in South Carolina but, generally speaking, apples are ready for the picking from late July through at least the middle of October each year.
