Jigger’s Diner Has Been Serving Up Delicious Breakfast In Rhode Island Since 1928
Sometimes nothing satisfies quite like an old-fashioned diner meal. Luckily, Rhode Island has plenty, some of which are absolutely iconic. If you have a craving for a hearty (or for that matter, healthy), look no further than Jigger’s Diner in East Greenwich. This timeless treasure has some serious staying power.
Jigger's Diner's beginnings actually date all the way back to 1917, when Vilgot 'Jigger' Lindberg opened a small hamburger and hot dog restaurant called Lindy's.
In 1928, Lindberg moved his lunch cart to Wickford Village and put a diner in its place.
The diner was an instant hit, and rumor has it that customers stood three deep behind the stools waiting their turn.
Lindberg left the restaurant business in 1941, when Lenny Boren took things over.
In 1950, Boren and his partner replaced the old diner with the present one.
The diner changed hands several times before closing briefly in the early 1980s. Luckily, it has been back in operation since 1992.
Despite all the changes over the years, the food at Jigger's has always been delicious.
They offer a huge selection of breakfast and lunch, and everything is tasty.
While diner food is not traditionally healthy, you'll find some nutritious takes on the classics here.
This is the Quinoa & Kale, Potato Latkes Eggs Benedict entree.
You'll also find plenty of seafood on the menu -- this is Rhode Island, after all.
They love to get creative with lobster.
Jigger's Diner is open from 6 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. every day but Tuesday.
Come try a homemade breakfast or a fresh, natural burger and you'll see why this eatery is such a beloved treasure.
