Plans for a National Historic Trail, which runs from Williamsburg, Virginia to Waterford, Pennsylvania, are currently in the works.
The scenic drive follows Washington’s travels through the area throughout late 1753 and early 1754, beginning at Fort Necessity in Farmington, where the French and Indian War began.

If you’re not in a hurry, Fort Necessity is near a slew of attractions including Laurel Caverns, Ohiopyle State Park, and Fallingwater.
Following your time in Fallingwater, you’ll drive to Downtown Pittsburgh. For some of the best views of the city, take the Monongahela Incline or the Duquesne Incline to the top of Mount Washington.
