Pennsylvania has some of the best food in the entire nation! If you don’t believe me, just ask the folks at Zagat who named Pittsburgh the best dining town in the country for 2015. There are many restaurants here that if you haven’t tried, you haven’t lived! Here are some of the Pennsylvania dining experiences you simply must have – the ones that are a bit off the beaten path.


Kathy's has the atmosphere of a groovy retro diner and the menu of a trendy, modern bistro. It offers delicious farm fresh foods sourced from local ingredients and its very own juice bar.

Lidia's has some of the best, most authentic Italian food, specifically Northern Italian food. The restaurant is located in the Strip District, one of the most vibrant, popular neighborhoods in Pittsburgh.

Three B's is famous for having the best BBQ in Erie. They also have a huge selection of craft beers.


Victor's not only has incredible Italian cuisine, but also offers top of the line entertainment. The waitstaff here are all trained in Opera singing, and will spontaneously break into song at various points during your visit. It's a dining experience that you definitely won't forget.


Jean Bonnet Tavern is one of the oldest restaurants in the state. Founded in 1762, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Be sure to try their amazing burgers-- and stay the night!

Cajun and Creole restaurants can be hard to find in our region, so Spats may be just the change of pace you need in your diet. The atmosphere is casually elegant, and the restaurant sources all of their ingredients responsibly.


That delicious looking meal right there is pork BBQ, fried egg, cheddar cheese, and bacon on a waffle. My mouth is watering. Bullfrog Brewery one of the best spots in Williamsport, with award-winning beers and live music every weekend.


The Brew Works is one of the most popular dining spots in the Lehigh Valley, with a location in downtown Allentown and in Bethlehem. Be sure to try some of their amazing German-inspired fare, such as the pretzels and beer cheese appetizer.

If you enjoy Indian or Nepali cuisine, then you should definitely check out Himalayan Curry and Grill. It is a popular spot in Lancaster for birthdays and celebrations of all kinds. It's a good idea to make a reservation so that you get a table!


Located in Fishtown in Philly, Kensington Quarters is a full service restaurant and butcher shop. They offer the finest cuts of locally raised meat, and in pretty designs, too (as you can see above). Trendy, conscientious, and delicious, this is definitely a stop worth making.
