The state of Oregon is known for its many wonderful attributes, ranging from scenic trails to bustling city life and some of the most picturesque views you'll find in America. And now, thanks to the efforts of a very special conservation group, the state of Oregon is also home to the largest captive adult sloth population in the world. Rainier Oregon may not be the sloth’s native home, but these lovable creatures are being well-looked after here.
This wonderful facility is dedicated to the protection, research, and conservation of sloths and works with the Zoological Conservation Center to ensure that prime care is given to them.
Keeping this delicate population in captivity allows for the animals to experience long-term wellbeing and ideally, preserve other populations in the wild.
In addition to conservation efforts, the center allows for up-close and personal interactions with these animals.
But much unlike the typical zoo, visitors are only allowed in small, carefully-guided tours, and there are no barriers.
As you can tell by these photographs, the sloths are free to hang out as they please!
